Frequently Asked Questions
How does an electric car work?
Electric cars, or battery electric vehicles (BEVs), have an electric powertrain and motor that is powered by a large battery. You can charge them by plugging into a wall outlet or electric vehicle charging station.
How do you maintain an electric vehicle?
To maintain the health of your electric vehicle, we recommend exercising proper battery use procedures, staying up-to-date on vehicle servicing, brake service and tire rotations, all of which will increase the lifespan of your electric vehicle.
What happens to range in cold temperatures?
An electric vehicle can experience a loss of range in extreme cold temperatures. The primary reasoning behind range reduction is that the electric vehicle must power a separate electric heater that draws power from the high-voltage battery. To counteract this natural response, Hyundai electric vehicles (EVs) come with a Heat Pump System, which turns atmospheric heat into cabin heat reducing the use of the HVAC system. In addition, our electric vehicles also come with a Battery Temperature Management System that preheats the battery while charging to aid in reducing range loss. These two systems help take on Canadian winters while providing owners with that extra bit of driving confidence.
How much does it cost to charge an electric car?
The cost of charging an electric vehicle varies depending on the price of electricity in your province and which time of day you choose to charge. It may be helpful to charge during off-peak hours and set your vehicle's charging system to only accept charging during this specific time frame.

Federal and provincial electric vehicle incentives (each an “Incentive”) each represent a maximum incentive or rebate amount provided by the federal government and applicable provincial and territorial governments (each a “Jurisdiction”) on eligible vehicles. The amount of the Incentive, its terms and conditions, and its eligibility or application varies by Jurisdiction, model and trim level, MSRP, final transaction value as calculated in accordance with the applicable Jurisdiction’s regulations, and any other criteria that may be established by each Jurisdiction. The Incentive is applied after applicable taxes in each Jurisdiction. The Incentive programs are administered independently by each Jurisdiction and are subject to cancellation or change. Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. is not responsible for the administration of Incentive programs, and any changes or cancellations thereto, and makes no representations about the actual amount or eligibility for any Incentives.
