2024 Hyundai Tucson Technology and Safety Features

The 2024 Hyundai Tucson is a head-turning, high-value SUV that is not only blessed with fantastic looks and an inviting cabin but also chock-full of great technology and safety features.

Technology

Technology

The infotainment system in the Tucson is run on a 10.25-inch touchscreen that’s been integrated into the dashboard. There’s Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, so Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard features. The audio system in the Preferred trim has six speakers, while the other trims all have a BOSE AM/FM/HD Radio premium audio system with eight speakers. Navigation is standard across all trims. The Ultimate also boasts a wireless charging pad for a smartphone.

There are dual USB charging ports at the front, and, except for the Preferred, there are dual USB ports at the rear. All trims have two 12-volt outlets, one at the front and one in the cargo area.

All trims have Hyundai’s BlueLink Connected Vehicle System installed. BlueLink turns your smartphone into a partner for managing the functions of the car.

  • BlueLink will connect to a range of popular devices, such as smartphones (both Android and Apple), Apple Watch, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
  • The user can turn on the engine remotely and set the climate control so the temperature in the cabin is pleasant when you get in. The length of time that the engine must run is customisable through the app.
  • Remotely lock and unlock the doors. This great safety feature means you can unlock the door but not open it. The app will relock the doors after 30 seconds if the door is not opened.
  • The app will send diagnostics and alerts to the phone. Alerts, such as a service is due, will ensure you don’t miss an important service.
  • For cars fitted with navigation, BlueLink links with Google to set routes to a favourite restaurant or other destination.
  • Losing your car in a huge or multi-storey car park can be a nightmare. If you're within 1.6 km of your car, BlueLink will take you directly to your vehicle.
  • BlueLink will help you find your car if it is stolen. You can relay its exact position to law enforcement and even disable the engine until it has been recovered.
  • If you have a young driver, BlueLink can alert you to excessive speed or where the car is to help keep your teen safe.
  • BlueLink has a panic button that will send a message to selected family and friends if you run into a situation you cannot handle.

Safety

Safety

The Tucson has great safety features.

Passive Safety

The Tucson has front airbags that have sensors in the passenger seat to enable the passenger airbag. If there is no passenger, then that airbag will not be activated in the event of an accident. There are also side and curtain airbags fitted as standard.

It goes without saying that the Tucson comes with seatbelts for all occupants in the cabin.

Active Safety

All of these safety features are standard across all trims:

  • Forward Collision Avoidance Assistance and Avoidance. This includes pedestrian and cyclist detection as well as junction turning assistance.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control that will automatically slow the vehicle if your car gets too close to the one in front and will start automatically when the traffic starts to move again.
  • Lane-keeping assistance and lane deviation warnings help ensure your car does not drift out of its lane without an indicator being turned on.
  • Driver Attention Warning is designed to guard against things such as drowsiness. If the system detects inattentiveness by the driver, it will sound a warning that you should take a break.
  • High Beam Assist automatically switches from low to high beam and back again, depending on the surrounding light.
  • Blind Spot monitoring will assist with alerting drivers to vehicles in their blind spot.
  • Rear Cross-traffic alerts will give you a warning of traffic moving behind you when you’re reversing.
  • Safe Exit Assist is a system that uses radar to detect vehicles that may cause danger if occupants open the door to get out. It will automatically lock the doors to prevent occupants from stepping out into danger.
  • Rear Occupant Alert posts a reminder to the driver and front seat passengers that the rear doors were opened and closed, so there is an occupant in the rear seats.
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring will notify the driver if any of the tyres falls below its optimal pressure.
  • Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic stability control (ESC) with traction control (TCS), and Vehicle stability management (VSM) are all designed to help the driver safely negotiate any road conditions.

The Ultimate trim has these additional features:

  • Parking sensors at the front and rear give a warning when your car is too close at the front or rear to another car while parking.
  • Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist provides an audible alarm and emergency braking if the sensors detect a potential hazard while you’re reversing.
  • Blind View Monitor helps you change lanes or directions safely by providing a live view down the side of the vehicle to eliminate blind spots.
  • Surround View Monitor gives you a 360-degree view of the vehicle.
  • Highway Driving Assist uses adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist to make highway driving effortless.
  • Highway Auto Curve Slowdown will automatically slow the vehicle when speed limits change.
